Singaraja — Fourteen people recorded positive urine-test results during drug-screening activities conducted by the Buleleng Regency National Narcotics Agency (BNNK Buleleng) from Sept. 16 through Oct. 27, 2026, across 19 locations in Buleleng.

The screening found indications involving amphetamine, methamphetamine and benzodiazepines. The examinations covered government employees and other groups, including workers, students and members of the public. Several people identified as positive have entered rehabilitation, while others are awaiting decisions from ethics and disciplinary proceedings at their respective institutions.

Why it matters for residents and visitors

The results concern workplace and community drug screening in Buleleng, not a new rule governing foreign residents or visitors. For foreigners in Bali, the practical significance is that Indonesian authorities continue to conduct prevention and early-detection programs through government offices and other institutions. The reports do not state that tourists or foreign residents are subject to a new screening requirement, nor do they identify the 14 people or disclose their agencies.

Komang Yuda Murdianto, head of BNNK Buleleng, said the handling of the 14 cases remained in progress. BNNK Buleleng was continuing to examine each person's history of substance use and provide recommendations for treatment or rehabilitation according to individual needs. The agency said it was not intervening in the internal proceedings conducted by the relevant institutions.

The screening program formed part of Buleleng's broader effort to detect and prevent narcotics misuse. Locations included government offices and public institutions such as BKPSDM, BKAD, Bappenda, DPMPTSP, BPBD, Satpol PP, Buleleng Regency Hospital, Giri Emas Hospital and the Buleleng district office.

The reports state that the detection activities were continuing. Further handling may include rehabilitation recommendations or referrals, including inpatient care at Manah Shanti Mahottama Hospital in Bangli, where needed.
