Gianyar — Strong winds brought down a resident’s garage in Lingkungan Lebih Beten Kelod, Desa Lebih, Kecamatan Gianyar, on Saturday, Oct. 31, burying one car and two motorcycles parked inside.
The collapse occurred after extreme weather struck Gianyar that afternoon. The garage belonged to I Dewa Gede Putra Sedana, who was away at a temple when the structure fell. His wife notified him by telephone, according to reports from Bali Post and iNews.
No one was killed or injured. The garage was empty of occupants when it collapsed, while all three vehicles were damaged. The total material loss had not yet been determined.
Why the Gianyar collapse matters
The incident shows the practical risks that sudden high winds pose to homes and vehicles during the wet-season transition. For foreign residents and visitors in Bali, the immediate issue is not a new rule but exposure to weather-related property damage: vehicles parked under lightly built structures may be vulnerable when strong winds arrive.
In practice, the reports identify the affected location as Lingkungan Lebih Beten Kelod in Desa Lebih, rather than a hotel, public facility or tourist attraction. The accounts also say that the vehicles were inside the garage, and that no residents were present in the structure at the time.
Local reporting said residents were urged to remain alert to extreme weather, check the strength of building structures and roofs, and trim old branches near homes to reduce the risk of wind damage or falling trees. The reports did not state a further government response or a timetable for repairs.
