Bali Police Step Up Security for 2026 International Women Police Conference

Bali — Bali Police have stepped up preparations to secure the 63rd International Association of Women Police (IAWP) Annual Training Conference, which will take place in Bali from Sunday, 20 September to Thursday, 24 September 2026, bringing together policewomen and law enforcement leaders from around the world, according to Indonesian National Police and broadcast reports.

The conference is being co-hosted by the International Association of Women Police and the Indonesian National Police and will be held at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua in Badung, Bali. The organisers describe it as the IAWP’s 63rd annual training conference, with the theme “Women Leading Global Change.”

According to the Indonesian National Police, the Bali meeting is expected to gather policewomen, police leaders and law enforcement practitioners from multiple countries to strengthen professional development, collaboration and cross-cultural ties. Earlier planning information cited by local media said the forum would bring together delegates from 75 countries, although more recent briefings from police officials and broadcasters state that around 43 countries are confirmed to attend.

Police security operation

Bali Police have launched a dedicated security operation for the conference and a parallel senior officer meeting between the Indonesian National Police and the Australian Federal Police. In a briefing ahead of the event, Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Tahi Monang Silitonga said the force would deploy 744 personnel under Operation Gapura Agung IV‑2026 from 20 to 24 September to secure both agendas.

In that briefing, Daniel said the IAWP conference was expected to be attended by 464 female police representatives from 43 countries. He emphasized that personnel must maintain discipline, understand the operational hierarchy and follow established procedures to ensure the international events run smoothly.

Separate comments from Bali Police Inspector for Operational Supervision Senior Commissioner Asep Ahdiatna, reported by national media, underlined that officers have been reminded to prepare physically and mentally for the international agenda, to stay healthy and fit, and to comply with the chain of command during the operation. Asep said readiness covers not only the implementation of duties but also the condition of personnel.

Conference program and participants

The IAWP and Indonesian National Police say the Bali conference will focus on developing women within policing and how police organisations respond to the communities they serve, reflecting the “Women Leading Global Change” theme. According to organizers, the meeting will bring together policewomen, police leaders and law enforcement practitioners from various countries for training sessions, networking and the exchange of best practices.

Local and national outlets report that around 450 to more than 500 participants are expected in Bali for the conference, with sessions addressing issues such as women’s leadership in policing, human trafficking, technology‑facilitated violence, counter‑terrorism and transnational crime. The opening ceremony is scheduled at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua on Sunday, 20 September 2026.

Media reports also note that the 2026 conference in Bali is the first time the IAWP has held its annual training event physically in Indonesia, marking a milestone for the country’s policewomen and gender‑equality efforts within the police force. Additional activities around the conference are expected to include meetings, a parade and environmental events such as mangrove planting involving delegates and local partners.

Authorities and organizers have not detailed specific road closures or travel restrictions linked to the events in publicly available statements, but police say the security operation is intended to ensure that all conference activities proceed safely and orderly in the Nusa Dua area.
