BMKG warns of strong winds in Badung and Bangli

Badung and Bangli — The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) issued a strong-wind early warning for Bali’s Badung and Bangli regencies from 08:00 WITA (UTC+8) on Sept. 24 through 08:00 WITA on Sept. 25. BMKG’s forecast for Bali on Sept. 24 called for generally partly cloudy conditions, temperatures of 18–32 degrees Celsius and easterly to southeasterly winds of 4–32 kilometers per hour.

The warning applies during a defined 24-hour period and concerns two regencies rather than the entire island. Balipost reported that BMKG had issued no district or city warning for rain ranging from light to extreme during the same period, while identifying Badung and Bangli for the strong-wind alert.

Why the warning matters to Bali visitors and residents

For foreign residents and visitors, the notice means that conditions may be windier than the broader partly cloudy forecast in Badung and Bangli, two areas that include heavily visited parts of southern and central Bali. The report also noted that wave heights in the waters south of Bali could reach 3.0 meters. BMKG said ferry operations could face risk when wind reaches 21 knots with waves of 2.5 meters, while conditions could affect fishermen at 15 knots with waves of 1.25 meters.

The forecast gives wind direction as east to southeast and wind speed as 4–32 kilometers per hour. Temperatures across Bali were forecast to range from 18–32 degrees Celsius. The warning period ends at 08:00 WITA on Sept. 25, according to the report.
