Denpasar — The Bali Cultural Preservation Center and the Denpasar City Cultural Office held a maintenance action at Bale Kulkul Puri Pemecutan on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, as part of Culture Day activities.

The work took place on Jalan Gunung Batur in Denpasar. The site, part of the Puri Pemecutan complex, is identified in the reports as a cultural heritage property associated with the history of Denpasar and the Puputan Badung event.

The maintenance preserves a surviving Denpasar landmark

The action was described as a gotong royong effort, or community cooperation, to care for and preserve the heritage structure. Participants included the Penglingsir Puri Pemecutan, officials from the Denpasar City Cultural Office, Denpasar cultural-preservation cadres and archaeology students from the Faculty of Cultural Sciences at Udayana University.

Ni Wayan Sri Witari, head of Denpasar's Cultural Heritage and Museum Affairs Division, said the work was intended not only as physical maintenance but also to strengthen public awareness, affection and concern for the survival of Bali's cultural heritage.

The Bale Kulkul is described as one of the intact remnants of the Puri Pemecutan complex. The reports also connect it with the history of the Puputan Badung struggle, when Denpasar was still known as Badung. For foreign residents and visitors, the maintenance action underscores that heritage sites in the city remain active parts of local cultural life rather than being treated solely as tourist attractions.

The reports state that the activity brought government bodies, the palace, cultural-preservation groups and younger participants together. They do not state a further schedule or a separate next phase beyond the continuing effort to maintain and preserve the site.
