Fire Destroys 10 Beach Bars at Perancak Beach in Canggu

Canggu — A fire destroyed 10 beach bars at Perancak Beach in Tibubeneng, North Kuta, Bali, in the early hours of Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, according to local reporting. No injuries were reported, and authorities said the blaze was first believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.

The burned venues were Pak Dera, Ogok, Paris, Andre, Tattoo, Bali Life, Tono, Himawari, Amertha and Bamboo, according to the reports. They were described as wooden and bamboo structures built close together along the shoreline, which helped the flames spread quickly.

Fire spread rapidly along the beachfront

The fire was reported at about 3:30 a.m. WITA and drew five fire trucks to the scene, local reports said. One report said the fire began at Himawari, while a man staying overnight at Tono raised the alarm after waking to the heat.

People from nearby Bali Life attempted to fight the flames with available equipment, but the fire could not be contained before it consumed all 10 bars. Strong wind from the ocean was also reported to have helped the blaze spread.

Police said the businesses were closed at the time and that no one was hurt. The owners were advised to file reports with police while the damage total was being calculated.

Perancak Beach sits on the Tibubeneng coastline in North Kuta, an area that has seen increased scrutiny over coastal development and beach access in recent years, according to local reporting.
