Indonesia Sets Rp15m–Rp30m Housing Aid for Flores Quake Victims
Indonesia has set repair grants of Rp15 million and Rp30 million for homes damaged by the August 15 Flores earthquake, with permanent housing and a monthly Housing Waiting Fund planned for severely affected households.

Labuan Bajo — The Indonesian government has set stimulus grants of Rp15 million and Rp30 million to help repair homes damaged by the magnitude 7.7 earthquake that struck Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, on 15 August 2026, according to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and several national media reports.
Acting Head of BNPB’s Data, Information and Disaster Communication Center Berton SP Panjaitan said the assistance is being prepared as direct financial support for homeowners, with amounts determined by verified damage levels.
Under the current scheme, the government will provide stimulus funds for repairable homes and a different housing response for severely damaged houses:
- Lightly damaged: repair grant of Rp15 million per unit.
- Moderately damaged: repair grant of Rp30 million per unit.
- Severely damaged: permanent housing through reconstruction or replacement housing rather than repair grants.
Damage assessment and data verification
BNPB and local governments are still collecting and verifying data on damaged homes before disbursing the grants.
Panjaitan has explained in online press briefings that the agency is coordinating with regional governments to classify houses as lightly, moderately or severely damaged, and to produce a single, validated record of affected residents by name and address.
He said the stimulus grants of Rp15 million and Rp30 million will only be distributed once this verification process is complete, and that severely damaged homes will be handled through a separate reconstruction programme.
Options for residents with severely damaged homes
BNPB Head Lt Gen Suharyanto stated that households whose homes are classified as severely damaged will not receive the Rp15 million or Rp30 million repair grants.
Instead, the government plans to provide permanent housing (hunian tetap, or huntap) by rebuilding destroyed houses or constructing new units, subject to available budget and regulations.
While waiting for these permanent homes to be completed, residents with severely damaged houses are being offered temporary shelter options.
According to Suharyanto and subsequent media reports, affected households can either move into government-provided temporary housing (hunian sementara, or huntara) or receive a Housing Waiting Fund (Dana Tunggu Hunian, DTH) of Rp600,000 per month
This DTH is described as a monthly allowance designed to ensure that residents have access to shelter until permanent reconstruction is finished.
The detailed technical criteria used to classify homes into light, moderate or severe damage categories have not been fully outlined in public reports, but officials have repeatedly emphasised that the grants and housing support will be tied to the verified level of physical damage to each property.
