Kupang — The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), through the El Tari Meteorological Station, issued a weather outlook for East Nusa Tenggara valid from Nov. 3 to Nov. 9, 2026. Flores is expected to receive light to moderate rain, while Timor, Sumba, Adonara, Solor, Lembata, Alor and Pantar may see light rain, with thunderstorms and short-duration strong winds possible.
The outlook covers the transition from the dry season to the rainy season. BMKG said conditions across East Nusa Tenggara are generally expected to be clear to cloudy, with rain in some areas. The agency also warned that moderate rain may be accompanied by lightning and brief strong winds, creating a risk of hydrometeorological disasters.
Why the outlook matters across East Nusa Tenggara
For residents and visitors, the forecast means that weather may change quickly across the islands during the seven-day period. Rainfall is expected to be light to moderate on Flores, while the other named islands may experience lighter rain. Thunderstorms and brief strong winds could affect travel, outdoor activities and local transport, particularly when rain develops.
The outlook was issued by BMKG’s El Tari Meteorological Station in Kupang. It places the province in a seasonal transition, when localized rain, lightning and gusty winds can occur even while broader conditions remain clear or cloudy. BMKG’s warning applies to the potential weather hazards described in the outlook and does not state that all listed areas will experience severe conditions at the same time.
The forecast also gives a regional picture rather than a guarantee for every locality. Flores is identified separately for light to moderate rain, while Timor, Sumba, Adonara, Solor, Lembata, Alor and Pantar are grouped among areas where lighter rain is possible. The report warns that rain may be accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds lasting for short periods.
