Sumbawa — Two people, identified by initials AS alias Geng and SM, were arrested by the National Narcotics Agency of West Nusa Tenggara (BNNP NTB) in Alas in the early hours of Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026. Officers said they seized suspected crystal methamphetamine weighing 107 grams gross, divided into packages weighing 102.86 grams gross and 4.67 grams gross.

The arrests followed an investigation involving BNNP NTB, the National Narcotics Agency of Sumbawa and Kodim 1607/Sumbawa, a local Indonesian military district command. Officers also reported finding drug paraphernalia, including a smoking device, scissors, a sharpened plastic pipette and a scale. A later search of a rented house in Gontar, in Alas Barat, produced plastic packets and another smoking device, as well as cash, an Innova vehicle and a CBR motorcycle.

The case points to a supply route from Mataram

Investigators said the suspected supply was obtained in Mataram, on Lombok, and that the inquiry was still developing. They alleged that AS was acting as a local distributor in Alas. The reports identified the two detainees as a couple and said the seized vehicle was used to collect the drugs in Lombok, while the motorcycle was used for distribution.

For foreign residents and visitors, the case is a reminder that Indonesian narcotics enforcement applies across the country, including regional towns outside the main tourist centers. The reports do not allege involvement by foreigners or describe any effect on travel services in Sumbawa.

The two people and the seized items were taken to the BNNP NTB office for further legal proceedings and investigation into the alleged supplier network. The reports did not state whether prosecutors had filed charges or whether a court hearing had been scheduled.
