Lombok Timur — A truck nearly toppled aboard a ferry crossing between Sumbawa and Lombok on Oct. 26, when waves reached 1.5 meters. PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry said no injuries or material damage were recorded, the cargo reached its destination safely and the crossing service continued normally.

The incident occurred as rough conditions affected the Sumbawa-Lombok route. The ferry operator’s local operations and engineering department said the vessel and its cargo were checked after the incident. Zulfikar Hilwansyah was the department head who described the findings.

Normal service limits disruption for travelers

For residents, visitors and freight operators using the crossing, the route remained in operation after the truck’s loss of stability. It does not indicate that every sailing is free from weather-related risk; it records the operator’s assessment of this particular incident and its immediate aftermath.

The truck was inside the ferry when it nearly toppled, and some goods were seen falling from it. Sea conditions were unstable at the time and waves were approximately 1.5 meters high. The cargo was delivered safely when the ferry docked at its destination.

PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry is the state-owned ferry operator responsible for the crossing. Its statement said there were no injuries, damage or material losses. Weather conditions had returned to normal.

Ferry service was continuing as usual.
