Flores — The East Nusa Tenggara provincial government has spent approximately Rp28 billion (about US$1.7 million) of the Rp40 billion (about US$2.4 million) in emergency disaster funding provided by President Prabowo Subianto for handling the Flores earthquake, a regional official said Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026.

Fransiskus Sales Sodo, the East Nusa Tenggara regional secretary, said the funds had been transferred to regional agencies during the emergency response. The agencies are now preparing accountability reports for the spending.

The reported spending is not necessarily the final amount. Sodo said not all of the Rp28 billion (about US$1.7 million) transferred to regional agencies had been used and that any remaining funds would be returned to the regional treasury.

Why it matters for Flores residents

The disclosure provides an early account of how emergency funds are being used after the earthquake. For residents and visitors in Flores, it indicates that the provincial response is moving from the immediate emergency phase toward financial reporting and review, while agencies continue documenting expenditures.

The funding was part of a wider presidential allocation for earthquake response. The provincial government received Rp40 billion (about US$2.4 million), while affected districts and cities each received Rp20 billion (about US$1.2 million). The provincial agencies’ accountability reports will determine how much of the transferred amount was ultimately spent and how much was returned.

The provincial government’s current next step is the preparation and submission of accountability documents by the regional agencies. No final audited spending total was stated.
