Montong Ajang — Lombok Tengah Regent Lalu Pathul Bahri said on Thursday, 22 October 2026, that investors whose business permits are deliberately delayed should report the matter directly to him. He made the statement during a tourism discussion in Montong Ajang village, West Nusa Tenggara.

Why it matters: Investors in Lombok Tengah are told where to report deliberately delayed permits, while applications remain subject to licensing, spatial-planning and protected-farmland checks.

Pathul said the local government would approve investments that meet the applicable requirements. He also said permit applications may need detailed land-status verification to ensure proposed development does not conflict with protections for agricultural land.

According to Detik Bali, Pathul said Lombok Tengah has been designated by the central government as a national food-support area, making farmland protection a consideration in development decisions. He nevertheless said the regional government remained open to investment and had prepared policies intended to speed up investment and provide certainty for businesses.

Inside Lombok reported that Pathul made similar points at the same 22 October discussion, saying investment should comply with licensing and spatial-planning rules and that protected rice fields were among the government’s concerns.

The reports did not identify a new permit deadline, fee change or regulation taking effect after the statement.
