Bali’s investment reached Rp42.81 trillion in 2025, but the flow remained concentrated geographically and by sector. NusaBali reported that about 93% was absorbed by the Sarabagita area—Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar and Tabanan—while hotel and restaurant businesses accounted for about 29% of the total, according to its report on Bali investment data for 2025.

How much investment did Bali record in 2025?

Bali recorded Rp42.81 trillion in realised investment in 2025, according to NusaBali, 2026, citing the provincial investment authority’s year-end figures. The total comprised Rp25.60 trillion in foreign direct investment and Rp17.21 trillion in domestic investment.

The same report said the 2025 total increased 17.2% from Rp36.50 trillion in 2024. The figures cover realised investment rather than announced projects.

Where is Bali’s investment concentrated?

About 93% of the 2025 total was concentrated in Sarabagita—Denpasar, Badung, Gianyar and Tabanan—according to NusaBali, 2026. Areas outside that zone accounted for about 7%.

This distribution matters for investors and policymakers because the island-wide total does not mean investment is evenly spread across Bali’s regencies. The reported concentration identifies Sarabagita as the main location of recorded investment in 2025.

Which sectors received the largest shares?

Hotels and restaurants accounted for about 29% of Bali’s realised investment in 2025, according to NusaBali, 2026. Residential property, industrial estates and offices followed with 28%.

Other services accounted for 17%, trade and repair for 10%, and transport, warehousing and telecommunications for 7%, the same report said. These categories show that tourism-linked and property-related activities remained prominent in the investment structure.

What does this mean for Bali’s wider economy?

Investment and employment are related but not identical measures. BPS Bali reported that 2.69 million people were working in February 2025, while 43.13 thousand people were unemployed, according to NusaBali, 2025.

BPS said the largest employment shares were in trade at 19.51%, agriculture at 19.12%, manufacturing at 15.89%, accommodation and food services at 14.40%, and construction at 6.91%, as reported by NusaBali, 2025. The comparison shows that investment concentration and employment distribution should be read separately.

Is investment still connected to tourism?

Yes. Hotel and restaurant investment represented about 29% of the 2025 total, while accommodation and food services employed 14.40% of working people in February 2025, according to NusaBali’s 2026 investment report and its 2025 report of BPS data.

Electricity demand provides another business indicator: PLN Bali recorded sales of 7,758 GWh in 2025, up 6.25% year on year, according to CNNIndonesia, 2026. PLN also reported 107,069 additional customers by the end of December 2025.
