Semarang — PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) said on Oct. 31 that it would waive 100 percent of port-service fees at 14 ferry ports during the 2026 Christmas and 2027 New Year travel period. The waiver covers foot passengers and users of Golongan II and Golongan IVA vehicles, with ticket sales under the program beginning Nov. 7 for departures from Dec. 22, 2026, through Jan. 10, 2027.
The participating network serves seven ASDP-operated ferry routes, including regular and express services. In eastern Indonesia, the ports are Lembar and Kayangan in Lombok, Pototano and Sape in Sumbawa, and Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara. The full program also includes Merak, Bakauheni, Ketapang, Gilimanuk, Padangbai, Tanjung Uban, Telaga Punggur, Ajibata and Ambarita.
Why the waiver matters to visitors using eastern Indonesia ferries
The policy removes the port-service component of the crossing charge for eligible travelers; it does not mean that every part of a ferry ticket is free. For a foreign visitor moving between Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa and Flores, eligibility depends on traveling as a foot passenger or in one of the two vehicle categories named by ASDP. Other ticket components and any applicable requirements remain separate from the waived fee.
The eastern routes connect Padangbai with Lembar, Kayangan with Pototano, and Sape with Labuan Bajo. These links are relevant to visitors traveling between Bali and Lombok, onward across Sumbawa, or toward Labuan Bajo in Flores. The measure is part of a government stimulus program for the Christmas and New Year period, and ASDP said the waiver applies to return services on the listed crossings.
Tickets carrying the stimulus are scheduled to go on sale Nov. 7, while the eligible departure window begins Dec. 22, 2026, and ends Jan. 10, 2027. ASDP projected that the program could benefit 188,909 foot passengers and 467,118 vehicles across the participating ports.
