Lembar — The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) warned that coastal flooding, known locally as rob, could affect three coastal areas in West Nusa Tenggara from Nov. 4 through Nov. 16, 2026. The listed areas are the coasts of Lembar, Sumbawa and Bima.
The warning is tied to the expected effect of the new moon on Nov. 9, 2026, which BMKG said could raise maximum sea levels. The agency’s warning applies to coastal areas, where unusually high tides can produce temporary flooding.
Why it matters to readers in West Nusa Tenggara
For foreign residents and visitors, the alert identifies the places and validity period covered by the official warning. People staying near the waterfront in Lembar, Sumbawa or Bima may encounter tidal water affecting coastal access or low-lying areas during the period listed by BMKG. The warning concerns potential flooding, not a report that flooding has already occurred.
BMKG is Indonesia’s national agency responsible for meteorology, climatology and geophysics. Its notice lists three locations under “Pesisir NTB” and gives the validity period as 4 Nov–16 Nov 2026. The warning forms part of a broader national notice covering several coastal regions from Nov. 2 through Nov. 17, 2026.
BMKG’s published information attributes the potential rise in sea level to the new-moon phase and bases the coastal warning on water-level monitoring and tidal predictions. No further action or follow-up timetable was stated in the reports reviewed.
