Nyambu and Kaba-Kaba Named Pilot Immigration Monitoring Villages in Tabanan
Immigration officials in Tabanan have designated Nyambu and Kaba-Kaba in Kediri as pilot Immigration Development Villages to strengthen community-based monitoring of foreign nationals and improve early detection of immigration violations.

Tabanan, Bali — 20 September 2026 — Immigration authorities in Tabanan have designated Nyambu and Kaba-Kaba villages in Kediri sub-district as pilot locations for closer monitoring of foreign nationals, formalising cooperation between immigration officers, village officials and local residents.
The initiative, launched by the Class III Non-TPI Tabanan Immigration Office, establishes the two communities as Immigration Development Villages because they host relatively large numbers of foreign residents and are considered vulnerable to immigration-related risks, according to local media reports citing office head Andhika Rahadiansyah.
Rahadiansyah outlined the programme during a media gathering on Monday, 14 September 2026, saying that village-level monitoring is intended to strengthen early detection of potential immigration violations and other offences involving foreign nationals.
The programme aims to speed up the flow of information from villages to immigration authorities and to equip local officials and residents with practical knowledge of immigration rules and reporting procedures.
Village-based monitoring and weekly visits
Under the scheme, Immigration Village Guidance Officers are expected to visit Nyambu and Kaba-Kaba once a week.
During these visits, officers will coordinate with village governments, provide outreach on immigration regulations and collect information from residents about the presence and activities of foreign nationals that may require verification.
Reports deemed relevant can be forwarded to immigration for follow-up, including coordinated action with the Foreigners Monitoring Team (Tim Pengawasan Orang Asing, or Timpora), a multi-agency task force that oversees foreign nationals across Indonesia.
Authorities say the village-based approach is designed to identify possible misuse of residence permits and to detect potential criminal activity involving foreigners, including human trafficking, before problems escalate.
Limited rollout and gradual expansion
Immigration officials have stressed that the programme currently covers only Nyambu and Kaba-Kaba and does not amount to a blanket deployment in all Tabanan villages.
Rahadiansyah said the office cannot immediately extend the initiative to every village because of limited personnel and will add new Immigration Development Villages gradually to maintain effective supervision.
The long-term objective, according to the Tabanan Immigration Office, is to assign at least one Immigration Village Guidance Officer to each village in the regency, building a network of community-based oversight to complement existing patrols and enforcement.
Recent regional data show immigration units in Bali have intensified monitoring of foreign nationals, combining field operations, task forces and village-level initiatives. Bali’s Immigration Regional Office reported 342 deportations in the first half of 2026 for immigration violations, with enforcement actions involving offices in Ngurah Rai, Denpasar, Singaraja, Tabanan and Klungkung.
National and local officials have framed these measures as part of a broader effort to safeguard public order and community security while maintaining Bali’s appeal as an international tourism and investment destination.
