Denpasar — Asosiasi Manajemen Indonesia, or AMA Indonesia, held its national AMA Indonesia Conference 2026 at the Prime Plaza Hotel Sanur in Bali on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, bringing together about 500 professionals, entrepreneurs, investors, academics and business leaders.

The conference, titled “From Management to Wealth Creation,” took place as companies accelerate technology adoption and pursue greater efficiency. Speakers said those changes must be accompanied by stronger workforce capabilities so that digital transformation does not lead to layoffs.

AMA Indonesia chairman Alex Denni said the organisation was focusing its human-resources development work on major sectors of Indonesia’s economy, with particular attention to micro, small and medium enterprises and cooperatives. In Bali, the emphasis was on tourism.

Why the conference matters to foreign residents and visitors

For foreigners who work with Indonesian companies, invest in local businesses or rely on Bali’s tourism economy, the discussion points to a business environment in which technology adoption is increasingly tied to employee training. The conference’s message was that companies should combine digital transformation with upskilling and reskilling, rather than treating efficiency only as a reduction in operating costs.

The forum included participants from professional, entrepreneurial, academic and investment communities, as well as leaders from state-owned enterprises and corporations. AMA Bali representatives said workforce development would require collaboration among businesses, state-owned enterprises, organisations and universities, rather than action by government alone.

The event was held alongside AMA Indonesia’s national working meeting, with Bali serving as host. Its organisers presented the conference as a cross-sector forum on management, human resources, productivity and sustainable value creation amid rapid technological change.
