Denpasar — Denpasar Immigration detained FMMM, a 67-year-old Dutch woman, after she allegedly caused disturbances at a hotel and at the Denpasar Immigration office on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026.
The case follows a report from the hotel where FMMM was staying after a disagreement over her accommodation. Local police secured her and handed her to the Class I Immigration Office for further immigration handling. During questioning there, she allegedly caused another disturbance.
On Monday, Sept. The transfer was made after administrative examination by the Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Section.
Why the case matters to foreign visitors
Indonesia’s Immigration Law gives immigration officials authority to take administrative immigration action against foreigners who engage in dangerous activities, are suspected of endangering public security or order, or do not comply with laws and regulations. In practice, that means a foreign visitor can be placed in immigration detention while officials handle an alleged public-order or immigration matter; the report does not state that FMMM was convicted of a criminal offense.
Officials cited Article 75, paragraph 1, of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration as the legal basis for the action. FMMM was placed at Rudenim Denpasar while the next immigration process proceeds under the applicable rules.
