Denpasar — Denpasar Immigration deported two Chinese nationals, QL and LW, after finding that they worked as doctors at a private hospital in Denpasar while using visitor visas. They were sent to Beijing and Wuhan on September 29, 2026, according to a report published on October 11.
Examination findings stated that QL, a 40-year-old woman, and LW, an 18-year-old man, entered Indonesia in July 2026. They were accused of secretly providing medical services without the appropriate immigration status and official practice permits. Neither was treating patients when officers conducted the inspection, but their travel documents were seized and they were summoned for clarification.
The case began with a public report about foreign nationals allegedly practicing without authorization. Officers from Denpasar Immigration's Intelligence and Enforcement Division then monitored the hospital. Denpasar Immigration Office Head R. Haryo Sakti said the violation was subject to administrative action under Article 75(1) of Law Number 6 of 2011 on Immigration.
Why this matters to readers in Bali
For foreign nationals, the case clarifies the difference between the right to visit and permission to work. A visitor visa does not replace the special residence permit or professional license required to provide medical services in Indonesia. A foreign visitor who works without the required immigration status and professional authorization may face examination, seizure of travel documents, and deportation.
Media Indonesia reported that QL traveled on flight MF892-MF8127 from Denpasar to Beijing, while LW used flight MF892-MF8337 to Wuhan. Both reports also stated that the deportations took place through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
The subsequent action mentioned in the reports was the application of immigration administrative sanctions. The reports did not state that any additional action was taken against the hospital.
