Denpasar — The Indonesian Finance Company Association, known as APPI, held Multifinance Day 2026 at Living World Denpasar from Oct. 9 to 11, bringing together 26 financing companies for public education on responsible borrowing, consumer protection and personal-data security.

The forum included the Financial Services Authority, or OJK, whose officials stressed communication between financing companies, local authorities and consumers to prevent disputes from escalating into legal problems. Organisers also urged borrowers to assess their repayment capacity before signing credit agreements and to protect personal data when using digital-finance services.

Why it matters to Bali residents and visitors

For foreign residents and visitors who use Indonesian financing or digital-payment services, the event’s message is practical: financing obligations remain tied to the borrower, while personal information supplied to lenders or digital platforms requires careful protection. The forum addressed risks associated with excessive consumer debt, unclear repayment capacity and the misuse or theft of data.

APPI said the Denpasar event was the 10th Multifinance Day, following events in Lampung, Bogor, Makassar, Surabaya, Medan, Bandung, Palembang, Pontianak and Manado. During the three-day program, participating companies presented financing products and services, financial planning information, debtor obligations and guidance on keeping personal data secure.

OJK Executive Chief Supervisor Agusman said financing companies operate under OJK supervision and must comply with applicable rules and consumer-protection principles. APPI Chairman Suwandi Wiratno said borrowers should not take instalments beyond their actual financial capacity and should meet their repayment obligations.

The event formed part of OJK’s Financial Inclusion Month and the National Movement for Financially Smart initiative. APPI said the program would continue through the scheduled Oct. 11 closing date.
