Denpasar — The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) forecast partly cloudy conditions across Bali on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, while warning of strong winds and waves reaching 4.0 metres in the waters south of Bali.
The forecast puts temperatures across the island at 18–33 degrees Celsius, with east-southeast winds moving at 4–32 kilometres per hour.
Why the 4-metre waves matter for Bali travel
The warning is most relevant to people using ferries, fishing boats and other small vessels around Bali’s southern waters. The report identifies conditions as risky for ferries when winds reach 21 knots and waves reach 2.5 metres. For fishermen, the stated risk threshold is 15 knots of wind with waves of 1.25 metres.
A separate report citing BMKG’s maritime information said waves of 2.5–4 metres were possible in the waters south of Bali and the Badung Strait from Oct. 8 through Oct. 11. It also reported that waves of 4–6 metres could occur in the southern Lombok Strait during that period. Those conditions may affect sea crossings and small-boat operations even when weather on land remains partly cloudy.
For visitors, the practical distinction is between the island’s land forecast and its marine forecast: partly cloudy skies do not mean that all sea routes will have calm conditions. Travellers using ferries or smaller vessels should expect operators and authorities to assess departures against the latest maritime conditions.
