Denpasar — A strong-wind warning covered Jembrana, Buleleng and Bangli on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, during a BMKG warning period running from 8 a.m. WITA (UTC+8) through 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9. The agency also forecast waves of up to 3,5 metres in the waters south of Bali.
The warning was reported by Bali Post, which attributed the forecast to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency, known in Indonesia as BMKG. IDN Times separately reported the same three regencies as areas urged to remain alert to strong winds, and gave the southern waters’ wave range as 0,5–3,5 metres.
Why the warning matters for Bali travel
The forecast is most directly relevant to coastal activities and sea crossings. Bali Post reported that ferry operations could face risk when winds reach 21 knots and waves reach 2,5 metres. For fishing boats, the reported risk threshold was 15 knots with waves reaching 1,25 metres. Those figures do not announce a ferry cancellation or port closure; they describe conditions that may affect maritime travel and fishing.
For visitors and foreign residents, the warning means that journeys involving Bali’s southern waters may encounter rougher conditions during the stated period. Inland weather differed by area: the report said Bali was generally forecast to be partly cloudy, while the wind warning applied specifically to Jembrana, Buleleng and Bangli.
The reported forecast also placed wind from the east to southeast at 4–37 kilometres per hour, with temperatures of 19–32 degrees Celsius. In the waters, the forecast range was 0,5–1,5 metres north of Bali and 0,5–3,5 metres south of the island.
