Desa Adat Songan — Songan customary village held the closing stage of its decade-long Tawur Agung Manca Wali Krama ceremony at Pura Kahyangan Jagat Hulundanu Batur on October 6, 2026, with Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana attending the ritual in Kintamani, Bangli.

Why it matters: About 10,000 participants and 2,000 vehicles are expected for the October 7 procession from Songan to Watu Klotok and Besakih, followed by a return on October 8.

The ceremony is held once every 10 years. Widiyanti toured the temple compound, signed a commemorative inscription and visited Pura Segara in Songan, according to NusaBali and Bali Post.

The next major procession, Nyegara Gunung, is scheduled for October 7. Participants will travel from Pura Hulundanu Batur to Pura Watu Klotok in Klungkung and Pura Besakih in Karangasem, before spending the night at Besakih and returning to Hulundanu Batur on October 8.

Planning information presented to Bangli police said the procession would begin at 7 a.m. and involve about 10,000 worshippers and attendants, with an estimated 2,000 vehicles. The police meeting record reported the date as September 7 in one passage, but the accompanying schedule and independent reports identify the procession as October 7.

The wider ritual series began on August 12 and includes stages held according to Balinese religious calendars and customary practice. Earlier reports said the main peak took place on September 26, while the October 6 ceremony marked the closing stage before the Nyegara Gunung procession.

The series is scheduled to conclude on October 9, according to NusaBali. The event has drawn large numbers of Hindu worshippers to Pura Hulundanu Batur in the days leading up to the closing ceremonies.
