Songan — Residents of Desa Adat Songan in Bangli will carry out the Nyegara Gunung procession on Oct. 7, traveling from Pura Hulundanu Batur to Pura Watu Klotok and Pura Besakih.
The procession is part of the religious rites at Pura Kahyangan Jagat Hulundanu Batur. Participants will spend the night at Pura Besakih before returning to Pura Hulundanu Batur on Oct. 8. The wider Tawur Agung Manca Wali Krama sequence is scheduled to close on Oct. 9.
Why the procession matters to visitors in Bali
The event will affect movement around three major temple sites in Bangli, Klungkung and Karangasem as worshippers travel between them. Visitors should understand that the procession is a religious observance involving local residents and temple communities, rather than a public entertainment event.
A separate report said the procession would involve around 10.000 worshippers and companions and an estimated 2.000 vehicles, with police preparing traffic coordination along the route. Those figures describe the expected scale of the operation, while the report on the Oct. 7 procession confirms the route, overnight stay and return schedule.
The rites are connected to the Karya Tawur Agung Manca Wali Krama at Pura Hulundanu Batur in Desa Adat Songan, Kecamatan Kintamani, Kabupaten Bangli. The sequence includes ceremonies at the temple before the Nyegara Gunung procession and its closing rites.
After the overnight stay at Pura Besakih, participants are scheduled to return to Pura Hulundanu Batur on Oct. 8. The full series is then due to end on Oct. 9.
