Mangupura — Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I TPI Ngurah Rai deported nine foreign nationals from Bali between Sept. 29 and Oct. 4, 2026, including two alleged sham investors and three people who overstayed their permits. The nine were returned through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

The group comprised two United States nationals, two French nationals, and one national each from Germany, Australia, Malaysia, Latvia and Thailand. The deportations followed routine patrols in Badung Regency, where immigration officers compared foreigners’ residence permits with their actual activities.

The deportations clarify how investor permits are being enforced

For foreign residents, an Investor Limited Stay Permit, known as an ITAS Investor, is tied to genuine investment and business activity. The reported cases show that holding an investor permit does not authorize unrelated work or inactivity in place of the investment for which the permit was issued.

The two alleged sham investors were identified by the initials AS, a German national, and TL, a French national. Both held Investor Limited Stay Permits. According to the reports, AS neither operated a business nor contributed capital, while TL worked as a host at a private villa.

Three other foreigners were deported for overstaying: ACH, a Thai national, after 45 days; AMK, a United States national, after 61 days; and SBM, a French national, after 357 days. Another foreign national, AC of Latvia, held a Visit Stay Permit but established a foreign investment company and managed assets without the corresponding residence permission.

Muhamad Novyandri, head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, said the action resulted from continuing patrols in Badung. The reports also state that the nine foreigners were sent to their countries of origin through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on different airlines.
