Denpasar — Denpasar Immigration said on 2 October 2026 that it was pursuing two foreign nationals who allegedly fled during a patrol investigating suspected illegal motorcycle-riding instruction in Serangan, Denpasar.

Why it matters: Foreign residents using Remote Worker limited-stay permits were questioned in an immigration inquiry into alleged motorcycle instruction in Denpasar.

The patrol took place on 25 September 2026. According to Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration, officers found two suspected instructors leaving the site and chased them, but they escaped.

Officers questioned two other foreigners believed to be participants. The immigration office identified them by the initials RO, a 20-year-old man, and IA, a 21-year-old woman. Both are Belarusian holders of limited-stay permits for remote workers.

Immigration said the two participants would be summoned for further questioning to help establish the identities of the alleged instructors. The agency also conducted monitoring in the Tukad Punggawa area, another location associated with foreign-national activity in Denpasar.

Denpasar Immigration chief R. Haryo Sakti said the monitoring was intended to ensure that foreign nationals’ activities comply with their immigration permits. The two alleged instructors had not been identified in the official account published on 2 October.

In a further update on 4 October, immigration officials said the search for the two alleged instructors was still being developed and pursued. The update also said the participants had encountered the alleged instructors through social media and did not know where they lived.
