Bali — An American man identified as RK was deported from Bali after overstaying his visa, according to a report published Oct. 10, 2026. He left on a Philippine Airlines flight bound for New York via Manila and was temporarily barred from entering Indonesia.

The pandemic disrupted those plans, and he later ran out of money for a return ticket. His family eventually bought him a ticket to leave Indonesia.

Indonesia treats an extended visa overstay as an immigration violation that can lead to removal and a future entry ban. A separate report on Bali immigration cases said authorities deported foreign nationals for overstays and other violations through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport during the period covered by that report.

Why it matters to foreigners in Bali

For visitors and foreign residents, the case illustrates the practical consequences of remaining after an authorized stay expires. Deportation ends the stay in Indonesia, while a temporary entry ban can prevent the person from returning for a period set by immigration authorities. The reported flight details also show that deportation may proceed on a commercial route arranged or funded by the traveler’s family.

The available reporting describes RK’s case as connected to the disruption caused by the pandemic, but it does not state the length of the temporary ban or identify a formal Indonesian immigration decision beyond the deportation. It also does not provide a government statement specifically naming RK.
