Mangupura — Rumah Detensi Imigrasi Denpasar deported five foreign nationals from China, Iran and Nigeria between Nov. 2 and Nov. 4, 2026, after immigration violations that included public-order disturbances, suspected theft, false information in an investor-residence application and overstays.

The deportations were announced on Nov. 5 by Teguh Mentalyadi, head of the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center. The cases involved different immigration measures, including the cancellation of an investor residence permit and removal from Indonesia. One Nigerian national, UMA, 37, had overstayed for 2,885 days, or about seven years and 11 months. Another Nigerian national, PGA, had overstayed for 401 days.

The group also included QL, a Chinese national who was detained after allegedly causing a disturbance and striking residents’ doors in Pandak Bandung village, Kediri, Tabanan, on Oct. 20, 2026. MI, an Iranian national, was connected to the handling of an alleged luxury-watch theft case at The Watch Co. in Living World Denpasar in June 2026.

Why it matters to foreign residents and visitors

The cases show that an immigration stay permit does not protect a foreigner from deportation when authorities find violations of immigration rules or public order. Overstaying can lead to removal, while an investor permit requires the holder to be able to explain the company’s business activity and the investor’s obligations.

HCJ, a 21-year-old Nigerian national, held an Investor Limited Stay Permit valid until July 31, 2028, sponsored by PT KGT. Authorities said he could not explain the company’s business activities or his responsibilities as an investor, and his permit was cancelled before deportation to Abuja.

QL was deported to Shanghai, PGA to Abuja and MI to Tehran. UMA and HCJ were also deported to Abuja. The report said two other foreigners linked to the watch-theft investigation, an Iranian woman and a Pakistani man, were still being handled by police. The five deported foreigners were also proposed for inclusion on Indonesia’s deterrence list for a period set by the authorities.
