Bangli — Three workers at a resort and villas in Kintamani, Bangli, are on trial at Bangli District Court over an alleged methamphetamine purchase that reportedly resulted in a delivery of alum rather than narcotics, according to local media and court records.
According to a report published on 16 September 2026, prosecutors from the Bangli District Prosecutor’s Office have charged three resort employees — Hari Rinaldi, also known as Hari, Randhi Furwana, also known as Randhi, and Alfa Syahril, also known as Alfa — with offences related to methamphetamine possession. A case entry on the Bangli District Court information system lists the three men as defendants in a narcotics case registered on 18 August 2026, with prosecutors Ni Made Aryani and I Putu Eri Setiawan assigned to the file.
The media report states that the alleged offences began on Monday, 8 June 2026, at around 2 p.m. local time. Alfa allegedly asked Hari to buy methamphetamine but did not have enough money, leading him to borrow funds from Hari. Hari then allegedly contacted a person identified only by the initials BGR using WhatsApp to arrange the purchase.
Prosecutors allege that Hari initially sought a package costing Rp500,000, but the contact reportedly replied that this price was not available and offered a package for Rp900,000 instead. Alfa then allegedly borrowed additional money from Hari so that the total amount available for the purchase reached Rp900,000. Hari is reported to have sent the Rp900,000 payment through Bank Mandiri’s Livin’ mobile banking service.
Alleged collection of the package
After the transfer, the contact identified as BGR allegedly sent Hari a location and a photograph showing where the package could be collected. Because Alfa was still at work, Hari allegedly asked Randhi to pick up the package. Hari and Randhi are reported to have travelled by motorcycle belonging to Alfa to the designated point near a minimarket in front of Bangli General Hospital.
The report describes prosecutors as alleging that the transaction, intended to obtain methamphetamine, instead produced alum, known in Indonesian as tawas, rather than narcotics. Court information system records list the case under the narcotics category and show it in the "persidangan" (trial) stage, indicating that hearings were ongoing as of mid-September 2026.
Case status and legal framework
The Bangli District Court case list shows the proceedings under number 37/Pid.Sus/2026/PN Bli, classified as a narcotics case. The entry names Ni Made Aryani and I Putu Eri Setiawan among the prosecutors and lists the three defendants as Hari Rinaldi alias Hari, Randhi Furwana alias Randhi and Alfa Syahril alias Alfa. The case status is recorded as "Persidangan", meaning the trial phase was still underway.
The media report does not specify the detailed statutory provisions cited in the indictment, but it notes that the case concerns alleged possession of methamphetamine and identifies the prosecution as proceeding at Bangli District Court. In Indonesia, narcotics prosecutions typically rely on Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, which covers offences involving methamphetamine and related substances.
Tourism-sector workers under scrutiny
The three defendants are described as workers at a resort and villas in Kintamani, a highland tourism area in Bangli Regency known for lake and volcano views. The case adds to a series of narcotics prosecutions in Bangli recorded in the court’s information system, where multiple files in 2025 and 2026 list similar teams of prosecutors handling drug-related cases.
As of the latest available information in mid-September 2026, the trial was ongoing and no final verdict had been recorded. Allegations in the indictment remain subject to judicial examination, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until the court issues a legally binding decision.
