Denpasar — — Prosecutors have requested 18-month prison sentences for four defendants accused of robbing two foreign nationals at a villa in Seminyak, Badung, in March 2026, according to a sentencing-demand hearing at the Denpasar District Court on Tuesday, 8 September 2026.
The case centres on an alleged aggravated theft at Villa Aora Dua by Elsewhere in Seminyak, where two visitors from the Middle East reported combined losses of around Rp 324 million.
The defendants are Gerald Dumatubun, also known as Gladys, 19; Muhamad Darlan, also known as Lola, 25; GNBP, 35; and RY Yulianti, 46, according to coverage of the court proceedings by Detik Bali and Bali Discovery.
Detik Bali reported that the sentencing demands were read by prosecutor Ni Luh Nyoman Ayu Puji Astini before a panel of judges at the Denpasar District Court on 8 September 2026.
According to Detik’s account of the hearing, the prosecutor argued that the four had been proven to have committed theft with aggravating circumstances under Article 477 paragraph (1), letters e and g, of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
The prosecution asked the court to impose 18 months in prison on each defendant, with time already spent in detention deducted from the sentence and all four ordered to remain in custody.
What prosecutors allege
The case stems from an incident that began when one of the victims, identified in Detik’s reporting as Almuqbil Omar Abdulaziz M, met Gerald through the dating application Tinder.
Coverage by Bali Discovery, citing Indonesian media reports, said the two victims from the Middle East had arranged for Gerald and Darlan to come to the villa in Seminyak after contacting them via Tinder.
According to Detik’s summary of the prosecution’s narrative, Almuqbil and his friend, named as Mohamad Aboallh M Alamro, later asked Gerald and Darlan to leave the villa after discovering that they were not women.
Prosecutors alleged that the defendants, dissatisfied at not receiving payment, contacted I Gusti Ngurah Agung Bayu Prayoga, Ratna Yulianti and two other people who remain on a wanted list, and that the group then went back to the villa.
The group was said to have forced its way into the property. Detik’s report stated that Agung Bayu carried a machete and struck Alamro several times with the blunt side after the victims refused a demand for money.
The prosecution described abrasions and bruising on Alamro’s left arm, wrist, chest, thigh and knee. Detik’s article did not cite a separate medical document in its account of the injuries.
Items listed as stolen from Almuqbil included clothing, a Rolex watch, a power bank, wireless earphones, a passport and Rp 30 million in cash.
From Alamro, the prosecution alleged that the group took three iPhones, a Rolex watch, a Lenovo laptop, a passport and several perfume bottles.
Losses and requested penalties
Detik Bali reported that prosecutors attributed losses of about Rp 180 million to Almuqbil and about Rp 144 million to Alamro, bringing the total alleged losses to around Rp 324 million.
In outlining aggravating factors, the prosecution cited the impact of the incident on the community and the financial losses suffered by the victims.
As mitigating factors, prosecutors noted the defendants’ behaviour in court, their admissions and stated remorse.
Alongside the prison terms, the prosecution asked the court to order each defendant to pay Rp 2,000 in court costs.
Detik’s report also said the prosecutor requested that clothing and a hat be returned to Almuqbil.
While the sentencing demands have been submitted, coverage from Detik Bali did not include the date on which the court is expected to deliver its verdict. No separate report from the court or other media examined here has yet detailed the final judgment or any appeal.
Case background
Earlier coverage of the case by Detik and Bali-based news site Bali Discovery described how the incident at Villa Aora Dua by Elsewhere in Seminyak occurred in the early hours of 26 March 2026.
Six people were said to have entered the villa, including the four defendants now facing sentencing demands and two others still listed as wanted.
Gerald and Darlan were previously reported to have been charged under provisions of Indonesia’s 2023 Criminal Code covering robbery with violence and theft with aggravating circumstances.
The 8 September 2026 hearing focused on the prosecution’s sentencing requests. The panel of judges at the Denpasar District Court has yet to publicly announce its decision on guilt and sentencing for the four defendants.
