Semarapura — Artists from Nusa Penida performed Barong Ket at the Atraksi Melestarikan Seni dan Kebudayaan Daerah Kabupaten Klungkung (AKSIKU) 2026 programme on Thursday, 22 October 2026, at Ida Dewa Agung Jambe Square in Semarapura, Klungkung.
Why it matters: The performance formed part of a four-day Klungkung arts programme involving traditional arts delegations from four districts and scheduled events through 23 October 2026.
The performance was part of the Bapang Barong and Mekendang Tunggal competition between districts in Klungkung. The Nusa Penida delegation was identified as Sekaa Gong Gita Paraartha in the published programme, while Detik Bali reported that the Barong Ket presented was a work from Banjar Pelilit in Pejukutan village.
AKSIKU was organised by the Klungkung Culture Office as a forum for local artistic expression and regeneration, according to Detik Bali. The wider programme ran from 20 to 23 October and included traditional arts competitions involving artists, communities and schools across the regency.
The competition on 22 October involved four delegations: Sekaa Barong Semut from Klungkung, Sekaa Barong Bapang Gunaksa from Dawan, Komunitas Seni Bala Swari from Banjarangkan and Sekaa Gong Gita Paraartha from Nusa Penida, according to Radio Republik Indonesia.
The official Klungkung Culture Office programme also listed Bapang Barong and Mekendang Tunggal among AKSIKU’s events at Ida Dewa Agung Jambe Square. The programme was scheduled to conclude on 23 October with a Balaganjur Kreasi Duduk competition for junior high schools.
