Buleleng — The Buleleng Culture and Tourism Office, through the Gedong Kirtya Technical Implementation Unit, opened a Kawisesan exhibition at the Sunda Ketjil Museum in Buleleng Harbour on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026. The exhibition introduces ancestral Balinese knowledge and runs through Monday, Oct. 26, 2026.
The exhibition is titled “Kawisesan Pinaka Tetamian Budaya Bali,” or Kawisesan as a Balinese cultural inheritance. It draws on knowledge recorded in Gedong Kirtya’s lontar collections, including Lontar Pengiwa, Pengujanan, Penerangan, Pematuh Agung, Ukuring Keris, Pakakas and Piwelas.
Why the Buleleng exhibition matters to visitors
For foreign visitors, the exhibition offers a focused way to encounter forms of Balinese knowledge that extend beyond performance and visual art. The material covers literary traditions, lontar manuscripts, traditional medicine and spiritual practices. The exhibition’s organizers have presented the subject as part of Bali’s cultural wealth and said it should be understood carefully rather than viewed only through negative interpretations.
The exhibition is open to the public. Visiting hours are 08.00–13.00 WITA (UTC+8) and 17.00–22.00 WITA (UTC+8). The schedule gives visitors both daytime and evening periods to see the displays at the museum in the harbour area.
The Buleleng Culture and Tourism Office organized the exhibition through Gedong Kirtya as an effort to introduce, preserve and deepen public understanding of ancestral Balinese heritage. Its closing date is Monday, Oct. 26, 2026.
