Kuta — A rehearsal for the 24th anniversary remembrance of the Bali bombings is scheduled at the Ground Zero memorial on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, one day before the main commemoration in Kuta, Badung.

The change comes as Badung Regency authorities and local community organizations prepare a shortened programme centered on remembrance and peace. The anniversary gathering will begin at 5 p.m. WITA (UTC+8) on Monday, Oct. 12, at the memorial on Jalan Raya Legian.

The programme will include a peace-song performance, interfaith prayers and the laying of flowers before the monument, which preserves the names of the bombing victims. The event is expected to end at about 8 p.m. WITA.

Why the Ground Zero commemoration matters

For foreign residents and visitors in Bali, the programme marks a solemn public remembrance at a memorial in one of Kuta’s busiest areas. The ceremony is being coordinated by the Badung Regency government through its National Unity and Politics Agency, with the Isana Dewata Foundation, Kuta Community Empowerment Institution and Kuta Interfaith Harmony Forum also involved.

The rehearsal on Oct. 11 will precede the formal ceremony rather than replace it. The following day’s gathering will bring together survivors, government representatives and community groups to remember those killed and reaffirm a message of peace.

The Ground Zero memorial stands on Jalan Raya Legian in Kuta, Badung. The annual observance recalls the bombings of Oct. 12, 2002, and this year’s programme is scheduled to use the memorial as its central venue.
