Bangli — Ida Sesuhunan returned to Pura Hulundanu Batur in Desa Adat Songan, Kintamani, Bangli, on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, after the Besakih and Mount Agung stages of the Nyegara Gunung procession.

The return marked the final phase of the Karya Tawur Agung Manca Wali Krama at Tri Kahyangan Jagat Pura Hulundanu Batur. The procession had taken Ida Sesuhunan from Songan to Pura Segara Watuklotok in Klungkung and Pura Agung Besakih in Karangasem, where the group stayed overnight before continuing with a pakelam ceremony at the summit of Mount Agung.

Balipost reported that thousands of residents of Desa Adat Songan accompanied the procession. After the ceremony at Mount Agung, Ida Sesuhunan traveled back to Pura Hulundanu Batur, where the arrival was received with further religious rites connected to the completion of the ceremony.

Why the return matters to Bali’s cultural life

For residents and visitors, the event illustrates the scale and continuity of a major ritual rooted in Songan’s customary community. The procession linked sacred sites on Bali’s southern and eastern routes with the temple complex in Kintamani, while involving residents in a ceremony held once every 10 years.

The broader Karya Tawur Agung Manca Wali Krama began on Aug. 12, 2026, and its stages at Pura Hulundanu Batur continued through early October. A report published before the procession said the route would include Pura Watu Klotok and Pura Besakih, followed by an overnight stay at Besakih and a return to Pura Hulundanu Batur on Oct. 8.

Balipost said the ceremony’s completion was expected to be followed by bakti penyineban on Friday, Oct. 9. After the full sequence ended, Ida Sesuhunan from each dadia in Desa Adat Songan would return to its respective shrine.
