Denpasar — Hindu communities in Bali will observe Anggara Kasih Dukut on Oct. 20, 2026, a sacred day in the Balinese calendar that returns every 210 days.

The observance is associated with prayer, offerings and reflection. It is described as a time to cultivate compassion toward oneself and all living beings, while seeking spiritual cleansing from mental and other impurities.

Why Anggara Kasih Dukut matters to Bali readers

For foreign residents and visitors, the day offers context for religious activity across Bali. Hindu families may carry out persembahyangan, or prayer, and prepare sarana upakara, the offerings used in worship. The day also has a reflective purpose: practitioners are encouraged to examine themselves, express remorse and undertake a process of inner purification.

Anggara Kasih Dukut occurs when Tuesday, known in the Balinese calendar as Anggara, coincides with Kliwon in Wuku Dukut. The date is therefore determined by the combined Saptawara, Pancawara and Wuku cycles rather than by the Gregorian calendar alone. The observance is listed among Bali’s Hindu sacred days in October 2026.

The reports describe the day as a religious observance rather than a public closure or travel restriction. They do not state that temples, roads, airports or tourist sites will close. Visitors may therefore encounter prayer and offering activity in local communities while the observance takes place, but the reports do not specify a single islandwide program or official timetable.
