Police Remove Kemenuh Campaign Materials During Quiet Period

Gianyar — — Police in Sukawati and village election organizers in Kemenuh removed campaign billboards and other election materials on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, as the village-head election entered its quiet period, according to local reports.

The removal took place along main roads in Kemenuh village, Sukawati district, Gianyar, and was carried out by the village election committee with police escort, according to Balipost and NusaBali. Balipost said the operation was led by Sukawati Police Chief Kompol I Nyoman Wiranata, while NusaBali reported that he was joined by Kemenuh’s Bhabinkamtibmas officer, Aipda I Ketut Suparga, two other Sukawati officers and one officer from Gianyar Police.

Both reports said the materials were taken down to ensure no campaign attributes remained on display during the quiet period. Balipost reported that the operation focused on campaign billboards, while NusaBali said the action targeted billboards placed at several points along roads in Kemenuh.

Wiranata said the police role was to support security during the quiet period and help keep the election process orderly, according to the reports. Balipost quoted him as saying the goal was to maintain a conducive public-order situation ahead of voting.

The reports identified the action as part of the quiet period for the Kemenuh village-head election, or Pilkel. NusaBali said the quiet period for Pilkel Kemenuh 2026 ran from 14 to 17 September, with voting scheduled for 20 September 2026.

Both outlets said the cleanup ended safely, orderly and without disruption. Balipost also said conditions in the village remained calm after the operation.

No sanctions, warnings or candidate penalties were reported in the accounts reviewed.

Election timeline

Coverage published in August had already described I Dewa Nyoman Neka, the incumbent, as the lone candidate in Kemenuh’s 2026 perbekel election. That report also said the campaign period ran on 10, 12 and 13 September, followed by the quiet period from 14 to 17 September and voting on 20 September.

The September 16 operation therefore took place during the election’s quiet period, when campaign materials were being removed from public view.
