Lombok Utara — An unidentified body was found by a resident looking for birds in Bukit Lendang Luar, Desa Malaka, Kecamatan Pemenang, Kabupaten Lombok Utara, on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, at about 11 a.m. WITA.
The discovery began when the resident noticed an unpleasant smell in the hillside area and traced it to the body. The resident reported the finding to police, who carried out initial handling and coordinated with the Mataram Search and Rescue Office through the Bangsal SAR standby unit.
The body was later evacuated to the Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Provinsi NTB, or NTB Provincial Regional General Hospital, for further handling, medical examination and identification. The identity of the deceased and the cause of death had not been established.
Why the discovery matters to readers in Lombok
For foreign residents and visitors, the report is a reminder that an unidentified death in a rural area remains a police and medical matter, not a confirmed account of how the person died. There is no indication that the deceased was a foreign national, and the death has not been stated to involve a crime.
The location is in North Lombok, on the island of Lombok, specifically at Bukit Lendang Luar in Malaka village. The body was found by a local resident rather than during a planned search operation. Police and SAR personnel handled the evacuation after the finding was reported to the authorities.
Identification and examination were still pending. The authorities had not released a name, an official cause of death or additional circumstances surrounding the discovery.
