Denpasar — Bali Governor Wayan Koster said Tuesday, Oct. 13, that a planned work-from-home policy for employees in Bali was not needed after the provincial government and PT Pertamina (Persero) agreed on a fuel-distribution plan to take effect that night.

The decision followed a meeting at Pertamina Fuel Terminal Sanggaran in Pedungan, Denpasar, with Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri. Koster said the arrangement would remain in effect until fuel supplies and distribution returned to normal, with implementation and oversight at depots and gas stations across Bali.

For foreign residents and visitors, the decision means Bali was prioritizing the movement of fuel through the distribution network rather than imposing a broader mobility restriction through remote work. The measure applies to employees in Bali; it does not announce a separate travel restriction for visitors.

Why it matters to readers in Bali

The episode affects daily mobility because delays in moving fuel from storage depots to filling stations had produced queues even though Koster said supplies were available. The issue involved distribution delays combined with a surge in demand, rather than an absence of fuel at depots.

Koster said Pertamina’s response would focus on improving distribution and monitoring conditions in the field. Denpasar and Badung were priority areas because of their higher mobility and fuel demand, and filling stations in those areas would begin operating around the clock in stages on Tuesday night.
