Badung Police Probe Viral Assault Video on Canggu–Tanah Lot Road

Badung — — Police in Badung are investigating a viral video that appears to show a foreign man assaulting a motorcyclist on the Canggu–Tanah Lot road in Munggu, Mengwi, according to Badung Police and local media reports.

The incident was reported to have taken place on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, and police said officers from Mengwi Police went to the scene after the video spread on social media, according to Aiptu Ni Nyoman Ayu Inastuti, a Badung Police spokesperson.

In a statement quoted by local media, Ayu said officers also interviewed a witness who operates a food stall near the location. The witness, identified by the initials SF, 22, said the confrontation began after a foreign couple traveling east on the road stopped near the stall and confronted the rider.

Police said the couple believed the motorcyclist had hit their motorcycle. An argument followed, and the male foreign national allegedly struck the rider before leaving the scene with his female companion.

Ayu said investigators were still working to identify the people involved and reconstruct the sequence of events. She also said police were checking the video and gathering additional information from the scene.

The report said the foreign couple were believed to have been under the influence of alcohol, based on information collected by police. No public test result was cited.

Police have not publicly identified the foreign man, his companion or the motorcyclist. The available police statements also do not confirm whether anyone has been arrested or charged.
