Denpasar — Bali’s traditional calendar identifies Sunday, Nov. 8, 2026, as unsuitable for cremation ceremonies and several other ritual activities across Bali, according to calendar guidance reported by Bali Post and Tribun Bali.

The guidance concerns ala ayuning dewasa, a traditional assessment of whether a day is considered favorable or unfavorable for particular activities. The reports describe the date as Redite Wage Landep and say the assessment draws on Balinese calendar calculations, including alahing dewasa.

For customary communities in Klungkung and elsewhere in Bali, the guidance means that cremation rites known as atiwa-tiwa or ngaben are listed as unsuitable on the date. It also identifies restrictions affecting other ceremonies, including some Manusa Yadnya and Pitra Yadnya rites. The calendar is cultural guidance for ritual timing, not a general prohibition on ordinary travel or daily activity.

Why the November 8 guidance matters to visitors and residents

Foreign residents and visitors may encounter the effects mainly when attending or arranging customary ceremonies. A cremation or other ritual may be scheduled around local calendar considerations, and the relevant decision can depend on the customary community involved. The reports say local customary authorities remain important for interpreting the guidance in its spiritual and local context.

The published entries include Gagak Anungsang Pati, which is described as unsuitable for a cremation ceremony, and Kaleburau, which is described as unsuitable for karya ayu or yadnya and for atiwa-tiwa or ngaben. Another entry, Salah Wadi, is described as unsuitable for Manusa Yadnya ceremonies such as weddings and hair-cutting rites, as well as Pitra Yadnya rites including burial, cremation, nyekah and ngasti.

The date is a Sunday in the Gregorian calendar and falls under Redite Wage Landep in the Balinese calendar. The reports do not state a single island-wide enforcement measure or a required change to public services.
