Alas Purwo — Jembrana officials and legislators held a Bhakti Penganyar prayer at Pura Luhur Giri Salaka in the Alas Purwo area on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026.
The ceremony was led by Jembrana Regent I Made Kembang Hartawan, accompanied by Deputy Regent I Gede Ngurah Patriana Krisna and Jembrana Legislative Council Chairwoman Ni Made Sri Sutharmi. Government and legislative representatives took part in the religious observance, which was described as a prayer for the safety, welfare and peace of Jembrana’s residents.
The ceremony linked public service with religious observance
Bhakti Penganyar formed part of the pujawali, or temple anniversary observance, at Pura Luhur Giri Salaka. After the joint prayer, Regent I Made Kembang Hartawan and Ni Made Sri Sutharmi handed a dana punia contribution to the temple caretakers, known in the report as the pengempon, in support of the pujawali.
For foreign residents and visitors, the event illustrates the role of Hindu religious ceremonies in public life in Bali and among Balinese communities outside the island. The ceremony took place in Banyuwangi, East Java, within the Alas Purwo area, but involved the Jembrana regency administration and legislators from Bali.
The report said the gathering also sought guidance and clarity for regional government and legislative officials as they carried out their duties and served the public. It described the occasion as an expression of gratitude and as a way to strengthen cooperation between the executive and legislative branches of Jembrana’s government.
