Denpasar — Bali’s Regional Disaster Management Agency explored artificial-intelligence tools to strengthen disaster information management and early warnings during a four-day training programme that began on October 1, 2026, in Denpasar.
Why it matters: The programme may change how Bali disaster personnel process risk information, tsunami warnings and emergency reports, but no new public warning or closure was announced.
The second-stage Agent AI training was organised by the Bali agency with BINAR Academy and supported by SIAP SIAGA, an Australia-Indonesia disaster-risk-management partnership, according to RRI. The programme was attended by personnel from the agency.
RRI reported that the training focused on three areas: hydrometeorological risk communication, the Bali Tsunami Early Warning System and disaster situation reports. The proposed tools could help process weather information and risk forecasts, organise tsunami-warning information and filter, group and summarise reports from multiple channels.
The agency’s operational-control centre personnel were the main focus of the capacity-building effort. Detik Bali reported that the agency was working with BINAR Academy to develop and train staff on the disaster-management AI system.
According to RRI, the technology is being explored for use before, during and after disasters. Potential applications include processing risk information and early warnings before an event, supporting faster information distribution and decision-making during an emergency, and monitoring impacts and recovery needs afterward.
The initiative is therefore an exploration and staff-training programme, rather than the announcement of a new public alert or an immediate closure. The sources describe Agent AI as a support tool for analysis, reporting and information management.
