Badung, Bali — Ngurah Rai Immigration deported a Nigerian woman identified by the initials IO after she overstayed her Indonesian stay permit by 93 days, according to Indonesian immigration and police reports. Officials said her permit expired on May 15, 2026, and she was later sent from Bali via Doha to Lagos, Nigeria.

IO was first reported to North Kuta police on Aug. 13, 2026, after a friend alerted authorities that she had remained in Indonesia after her permit expired, according to the Indonesian National Police and local immigration reports. Police then transferred her to Ngurah Rai Immigration on Aug. 16 for further processing.

Ngurah Rai Immigration said IO had entered Indonesia through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, on Nov. 17, 2025, using a visitor visa. The office said she later stayed in Bali and did not extend her permit or leave the country when it expired.

Deportation and possible re-entry ban

After questioning, immigration officers deported IO through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Aug. 18, 2026, with the journey continuing via Qatar to Lagos, according to the Indonesian National Police and local reports. The Bali immigration office also proposed placing her on Indonesia’s entry-ban list, but the final decision rests with the Directorate General of Immigration.

Immigration Head Novyandri said foreign nationals must leave Indonesia or extend their stay permit before it expires. He said a lack of money does not remove that obligation.

The case was handled as an overstay violation after the permit expired, and officials said the woman had remained in Indonesia for 93 days beyond the expiry date. The reports did not provide the exact permit category or say whether she had applied for an extension before the permit lapsed.
