Dry season leaves 1,048 Jembrana households short of clean water
A prolonged dry season has left at least 1,048 households in Bali’s Jembrana regency facing serious shortages of clean water, prompting BPBD Jembrana to deliver more than 400,000 litres and install emergency storage tanks.

Negara — — A prolonged dry season has left at least 1,048 households in Jembrana regency, Bali, facing serious shortages of clean water as of mid-September 2026, according to the regional disaster agency BPBD Jembrana, cited by local media reports.
BPBD Jembrana data reported by public broadcaster RRI and local outlets show that the agency has distributed about 408,200 litres of clean water to affected residents across several areas of the regency.
The dry conditions have reduced household supplies in multiple communities, prompting emergency deliveries to help residents meet daily needs such as drinking, cooking and basic hygiene, according to BPBD officials quoted in those reports.
Emergency deliveries and temporary storage
To support the response, BPBD Jembrana has installed 18 water storage units in locations hit by the shortage.
Because commercially manufactured tanks are not available in sufficient numbers, the agency has also built temporary reservoirs using tarpaulins so that water brought in by tanker trucks can be stored and accessed directly by residents.
BPBD Jembrana executive head I Putu Agus Artana Putra said the dry season has already forced the agency to step up deliveries to communities that can no longer rely on their usual sources of water, and warned that demand for emergency supplies could rise further if the lack of rainfall continues.

Local media reports based on BPBD figures state that the total volume distributed so far is about 408,200 litres of clean water, equivalent to roughly 408.2 cubic metres.
The assistance has focused on neighbourhoods identified by BPBD as experiencing difficulty securing enough water for daily use, with deliveries made over several weeks as the dry season has intensified.
Officials have indicated that both the number of affected households and the distribution volume may continue to increase if current conditions persist.
Risk of wider impact
BPBD Jembrana has assessed that the ongoing dry season could last into the final months of 2026, raising the risk that more communities in the regency will require emergency support.
In wider provincial data, BPBD Bali has previously recorded households affected by drought in several regencies, including Jembrana, with hundreds of thousands of litres of water distributed across Bali as part of the broader response to seasonal shortages.
Local authorities have said they are monitoring rainfall patterns and field conditions to determine how long emergency operations will need to continue and whether additional equipment or deliveries will be required.
