Desa Adat Kapal — Desa Adat Kapal held the annual Aci Tabuh Rah Pengangon, also known as Siat Tipat Bantal, on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the village temple complex in Kapal, Badung. Foreign visitors joined residents during the ceremony.

Why it matters: The ceremony temporarily diverted traffic on Jalan Raya Kapal, affecting travel through Mengwi on the Denpasar–Gilimanuk route during the afternoon of September 26.

The ritual was held at Pura Desa lan Puseh Desa Adat Kapal during Purnama Sasih Kapat. The annual tradition is known for participants throwing rice cakes called tipat and bantal as part of the ceremony.

According to Bali Post, traffic on Jalan Raya Kapal was diverted while the procession took place. The road lies on the main Denpasar–Gilimanuk route, making the ceremony relevant to people travelling through Mengwi.

Traffic arrangements were scheduled from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Central Indonesia Time, according to Bali Post. A separate report by Detik Bali said the main route was to be closed from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Large trucks and buses were subject to special arrangements. Vehicles travelling from Denpasar towards Tabanan were directed to wait at the freight terminal or the Badung government-centre area, while large vehicles travelling in the opposite direction were directed to the Mengwi Type A Terminal, according to reports citing Kapal village officials.

The ceremony is held annually on Purnama Sasih Kapat. It forms part of the Aci Tabuh Rah Pengangon religious observance in Desa Adat Kapal.
