Bali — The Directorate General of Immigration and the Ngurah Rai Class I Special Immigration Office have opened an official Immigration Lounge at Discovery Mall Bali in Kuta, providing passport and stay-permit services inside one of the island’s busiest shopping centres.

According to multiple Indonesian-language news reports, the Immigration Lounge at Discovery Mall Bali was formally inaugurated on Thursday, 27 August 2026, in cooperation with the mall’s management. It is described as the first immigration service point in Bali to operate inside a shopping mall.

The facility is located on the first floor of Discovery Mall Bali on Jalan Kartika Plaza, Kuta, Badung. Immigration officials say the lounge is intended to make services more accessible for residents and foreign nationals living in or visiting the Kuta and North Kuta area, who previously needed to travel to the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office in Jimbaran.

Services available

Reports from local media and immigration-focused outlets state that the lounge provides two broad categories of services: issuance of the Republic of Indonesia passport for Indonesian citizens and various immigration stay-permit services for foreigners.

Stay-permit services handled at the lounge include visit stay permits, limited stay permits (KITAS), permanent stay permits (KITAP) and Golden Visa services, according to statements attributed to the head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office. Several outlets note that the lounge processes residence permit extensions and has already handled more than 150 such applications per day.

Daily capacity is reported at around 40 passport applicants and 100 to 120 foreign nationals seeking extensions to their stay permits. Indonesian citizens can therefore use the lounge for passport issuance, while foreign visitors and residents can process a range of stay-permit services without going to the main immigration office.

Operating hours and access

According to information cited from the Directorate General of Immigration and repeated across several news and advisory sites, the Immigration Lounge at Discovery Mall Bali operates Monday to Friday, 10:00–17:00 WITA (Central Indonesia Time). No weekend operating hours have been announced.

Coverage in local and regional media indicates that the lounge uses a quota system for passport services, with 40 daily slots available, while stay-permit services can accommodate more than 150 applications per day. Some reports add that queue tickets for stay-permit photo services are available during a morning window, though detailed appointment rules are not fully described.

Discovery Mall Bali itself lists general mall opening hours as 10:00–22:00 daily, but these do not change the immigration service schedule, which remains limited to weekday daytime hours. Visitors are therefore advised to plan immigration visits within the published 10:00–17:00 WITA operating window.

Positioning within Bali’s immigration network

Officials and local media describe the Immigration Lounge as part of efforts by Indonesia’s immigration authorities to make services more flexible and accessible by placing counters closer to tourism and residential areas. The Discovery Mall Bali facility follows earlier trials of temporary immigration lounges in shopping centres and is presented as a permanent service point.

By situating passport and stay-permit services inside a mall frequented by tourists and expatriates, immigration authorities aim to reduce congestion at the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office and provide a more convenient option for routine applications and extensions. The lounge is also cited as supporting broader digital and service-transformation goals within Indonesia’s immigration system.
