Mandalika MotoGP 2026 preparations reach 80%, ticket sales hit 51%

Mataram — Preparations for the 2026 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia at the Mandalika International Street Circuit have reached about 80%, according to officials in West Nusa Tenggara and event organisers. The race is scheduled for 9-11 October 2026, with officials saying only minor finishing work remains.

West Nusa Tenggara Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal said the coordination meeting in Mataram on 14 September was held to check readiness with about 25 days left before race day, while Troy Reza Warokka, chairman of the 2026 Mandalika MotoGP, said overall preparation had reached around 80%, according to RRI and Metro TV News. Their reports said the remaining work included circuit repairs and supporting infrastructure, such as track planning, storage areas, the operation and common garage, electrical systems, safety improvements, race electronics and spectator seating.

RRI and Tribun Lombok also reported that the provincial government described the remaining tasks as minor and expected them to be completed before the event. A separate report from JawaPos said the same readiness estimate was being treated as an overall figure rather than a sector-by-sector breakdown.

Ticket sales and attendance push

Ticket sales had reached 51% by 16 September, according to RRI, while RRI and other reports said Troy Reza Warokka had put sales at around 50% to 51% in remarks made at the Indonesia Sports Summit in Jakarta. The organiser is targeting a full sell-out as the race date approaches.

The reports also linked the ticket push to the presence of Indonesian riders Mario Aji and Veda Ega Pratama, which organisers said could help lift public interest. Tribun Lombok reported that sales promotions were continuing through pre-sale periods, but the reports reviewed did not give a full capacity figure, so the 51% figure cannot be translated into a precise number of tickets sold.

Officials are also coordinating arrangements outside the circuit, including security, traffic management, medical teams, shuttle transport, accommodation and support for local businesses. Tribun Lombok reported that the provincial government wants volunteers to come from local communities and is preparing additional accommodation options, including camping grounds and camper vans.

Accommodation demand is already strong in the Mandalika area, while occupancy in Mataram has softened, according to the reports. Local officials also said the current hotel tariff regulation is no longer considered suitable and that further discussion on third-party room and ticket sales is planned after the 2026 MotoGP.
