Denpasar — Indonesian immigration authorities deported a 42-year-old Pakistani national with the initials WH from Bali on 24 August 2026, after he was unable to explain the business activities underlying his investor-sponsored limited stay permit, according to statements from the Denpasar Immigration Office reported by local media.

WH was removed from Indonesia via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on a flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with onward travel to Lahore, Pakistan, according to English-language and local reports on the case.

Immigration’s account of the case

The Head of the Class I Immigration Office in Denpasar, R. Haryo Sakti, said officers encountered WH during a patrol around the Dharma Dewata immigration office area in Padangsambian, Denpasar.

According to his statement reported in the press, WH held an investor-sponsored limited stay permit, or ITAS, but when questioned he was unable to identify the type or location of his business in Indonesia.

Media reports citing the immigration office state that WH was suspected of violating Article 71(a) in conjunction with Article 75(1) of Indonesia’s Immigration Law No. 6 of 2011.

Article 71(a) requires foreign nationals to provide necessary information about their identity and, where relevant, that of their families, and to comply with Indonesian laws and regulations.

Article 75(1) authorizes immigration officials to take administrative action against foreign nationals who are considered to disturb public security or order, or who are suspected of violating Indonesian laws and regulations.

On this basis, Denpasar immigration imposed an administrative sanction of deportation. Reports on the case do not state that WH has been convicted in court of a criminal offense in Indonesia.

Investor visa scrutiny

The case forms part of wider enforcement efforts against misuse of stay permits and investor visas in Bali.

Denpasar Immigration has publicly warned that foreign nationals who enter Indonesia under investor status but cannot demonstrate actual business activity or compliance with immigration obligations risk administrative sanctions, including deportation and potential entry bans.

Local coverage of WH’s deportation emphasizes that immigration can act on its own authority under the Immigration Law, without a criminal court ruling, when a foreigner fails to provide required information about their identity or activities.

Jurisdiction and public reporting

The Denpasar Class I Immigration Office oversees immigration enforcement in Denpasar City and surrounding areas, including parts of Badung and Gianyar regencies.

In public statements, Haryo has urged residents and businesses in the office’s jurisdiction to report suspected immigration violations through official complaint channels so that officers can respond more quickly to information about foreign nationals.

Authorities have framed these measures as part of efforts to safeguard public order while ensuring that foreign investors operating in Bali comply with Indonesian immigration and investment rules.
