Cucukan Beach — Police in Gianyar opened an investigation on 8 November 2026 after the body of a baby girl was found at Cucukan Beach in Medahan village, Blahbatuh, Gianyar, according to local media reports citing police and emergency responders.
Why it matters: The investigation concerns a death at a Bali beach, while the body’s examination and police inquiry may establish the circumstances and identity involved.
The baby was found near the shoreline on Sunday afternoon. Reports differed on the precise circumstances of the discovery: one account said the body was found floating near the beach, while another said it was found in a mineral-water carton. All reports identified the baby as female.
Police, the Gianyar disaster-management agency’s beach-rescue personnel, health workers and local officials secured the scene and carried out an initial examination. A police account reported that the baby weighed 2.2 kilograms and measured 46.2 centimetres.
The body was taken by ambulance to Prof. Ngoerah Hospital in Denpasar for further medical examination. Police said they were collecting witness statements and investigating the baby’s origin and the circumstances of the death.
The baby’s parents had not been identified in the reports. Authorities also had not announced a cause of death or identified anyone responsible.
