Denpasar — Bali is drawing interest from Taipei tourists who generally stay for 4-6 days and favor premium accommodation, private tours, restaurants, spa services and relaxation activities. STARLUX Airlines began direct Taipei–Denpasar service five times a week on Oct. 1, adding connectivity to the market.

The change comes as Bali’s Taipei market expands while remaining concentrated among independent travelers and small families. Bali Tourism Board Chairman IB Agung Partha Adnyana described the visitors as short-stay travelers with relatively high daily spending. They typically seek four- and five-star hotels or private villas, local food and seafood, and quieter, more private settings.

Why Taipei visitors matter to Bali’s tourism economy

For visitors, the pattern means a short Bali trip can combine upscale lodging with dining, wellness and privately arranged sightseeing rather than a large group itinerary. The source report says travelers staying in luxury hotels may also spend more time inside the property, making the quality and range of hotel services part of the destination’s appeal.

Data from ASITA Bali recorded 83,942 Taipei visitors in 2023, 103,509 in 2024 and 118,861 in 2025. From January through July 2026, the total reached 77,116. The Bali Tourism Board estimated spending at about US$190 per person per day, with total spending per trip at roughly US$1,050-US$1,250.

STARLUX’s new service operates alongside direct Taipei–Denpasar flights by China Airlines and EVA Air. The addition raises the number of direct flights to 19 a week, according to the report. The route gives Bali greater access to a market whose visitors spend heavily during a relatively brief stay.
